The one thing that matters most
Re-reading notes feels like studying but barely works. Testing yourself works. That is the whole reason this guide has games instead of just text. A student who reads a chapter four times usually scores worse than one who reads it once and then quizzes themselves three times.
So: read the Cram tab once, then live in the Quiz and Flashcard tabs. Go back to the Notes tab only for what you keep missing.
A 5-day plan per exam

Six tactics that raise a grade the most
Space it out, don't cram it in
Four 45-minute sessions across four days beats one three-hour session the night before, even though it is the same total time. Forgetting a little between sessions is what makes the memory stick.
Answer before you flip
On a flashcard, say the answer out loud before you flip the card. The struggle is the part that builds the memory. Flipping early feels good and teaches you nothing.
Study the confusions, not the facts
Exam writers build questions out of near-misses: CCK vs secretin, ADH vs aldosterone, positive vs negative feedback. That is what the Exam traps section of each chapter is for. If you can state the difference in one sentence, you will not lose those points.
Learn processes as sequences, not lists
Blood through the heart, filtrate through the nephron, food through the gut — these show up constantly as 'which comes next' questions. The Order game exists for these. Once you can rebuild a sequence from scratch, you can answer any question about any step of it.
Explain it to nobody
Close the laptop and explain the cardiac cycle out loud to an empty room. Wherever you get vague or stuck is precisely what you do not actually know. This finds gaps faster than any amount of re-reading.
Track your misses
Keep one page — paper is fine — of every question you got wrong. Two days before the exam, that page is worth more than all the notes combined. The hub also remembers your best score per chapter, so your weakest chapter is never a guess.
How this material tends to be tested
- Structure → function. “What does the X do?” is the most common question type. Every table in this guide is built in that direction on purpose.
- Compare two things. Fish vs mammal, artery vs vein, insulin vs glucagon. Study these in pairs, never alone.
- Numbers. Partial pressures, pH values, percentages, volumes. They look trivial and they are free points. They are bolded throughout the cram sheets.
- Apply it to a scenario. “A patient has X, what happens to Y?” You cannot memorize these — but if you know the sequences, you can reason them out live.
- Which does NOT belong. Read the question twice. Negative questions are where careless points get lost.
During the exam
- Do a fast first pass and answer only what you know instantly. Do not stall on anything.
- Second pass for the ones that need thinking. You now have momentum, and the earlier questions have often reminded you of terms.
- On a question you are unsure of, eliminate two options first — then you are guessing between two, not four.
- Trust your first instinct unless you find a concrete reason to change. Changed answers are wrong more often than not.
- Leave nothing blank if there is no penalty for guessing.
